The equipment is designed to handle anti-cryostat tubes. These tubes are used in extremely cold environments (close to absolute zero) to enable researchers to take measurements inside large superconducting magnets. For this to work, exceptional precision is required.
What made this project particularly challenging were the extremely tight tolerances. Precision is required in every weld and measurement when building for this type of research environment. It’s in projects like these, where the margins are minimal, that our assemblers and welders really get to show what they’re capable of. Great job by Johan Dahlström and the team that pulled this off.
A big thank you to the Ångström Laboratory/FREIA and CERN for this opportunity—we look forward to seeing it put to use!
About Our Customers: The FREIA Laboratory is a unique facility where the particle accelerator technology of the future is developed and tested. Among other things, they test superconducting magnets and advanced equipment, which are then sent on to major international facilities such as CERN. This is where researchers explore everything from the smallest building blocks of matter to new medical technologies.
